Stewarts Shops Celebrates $3 Million Lottery Win in Upstate New York

If you’ve ever grabbed a coffee, milk, or ice cream at Stewart’s Shops and decided to pick up a lottery ticket while you were there, you’re definitely not alone. And lately, it seems like those impulse purchases are paying off in a big way.

A lucky man is the latest person to become a multi-millionaire after buying a scratch-off ticket at a Stewart’s Shop in Upstate New York.

$3 Million Winning Ticket Sold at Stewart’s Shops

The New York Lottery has announced that Daniel Nellis of Caroga Lake, NY, has cashed in the top prize on the $3,000,000 Cash scratch-off game. Nellis chose to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment, taking home $1,328,043 after required state and federal tax withholdings.

His lucky $30 ticket was purchased at the Stewart’s Shops located at 1-19 East Main Street in Johnstown, New York.

With Nellis claiming the final top prize, all of the $3 million grand prizes on the $3,000,000 Cash scratch-off game have now been won. Lower-tier prizes remain available and can be claimed through May 21, 2027.

Stewart’s Shops Continue to Be a Lucky Stop for Lottery Players

At this point, it’s hard to ignore just how lucky Stewart’s Shops have become for New York Lottery players. The convenience store chain announced a while back that almost 500 Stewart’s customers won more than $18 million from New York Lottery tickets sold at stores across New York and Vermont in 2025.

Even more impressive, four Stewart’s customers became millionaires after purchasing winning tickets at stores in Canton, Sharon Springs, Rotterdam, and Poughkeepsie, NY.

The winning didn’t stop there either. Last year alone, 14 customers won prizes of $100,000 or more, while more than 450 players claimed lottery prizes worth at least $5,000 after buying their tickets at Stewart’s.

Whether it’s luck, timing, or something else, Stewart’s is quickly becoming one of the luckiest places to play lottery games in New York State.
