Resident scoops £250 in inaugural draw of county’s new community lottery

The prize was awarded in the inaugural Wiltshire Community Lottery draw, which took place on Saturday, June 6, and is part of a wider initiative to support good causes across the county.

More than 150 organisations, including clubs, charities and community groups, have already signed up, with the lottery forecast to raise £63,000 this year for participating groups.

Cllr Mel Jacob, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for communities, said: “We are delighted with the response to this fundraising initiative from local good causes and members of the public who have already bought more than 2,000 tickets so far.

“Many local groups and organisations that support Wiltshire residents have been eager to get involved and start raising vital funds.”

Every £1 ticket includes a chance to win up to £25,000, with 50p going directly to the player’s chosen cause and a further 10p supporting the central community fund.

Local good causes can sign up to be part of the Wiltshire Community Lottery now in order to start their journey raising money.

Tickets are available at wiltshirecommunitylottery.co.uk or by calling 03000 168861.
