Powys Euromillions player misses six-figure prize after claim deadline passes

The EuroMillions ticket, bought in Powys for the December 12 draw last year, remained unclaimed despite widespread coverage of the approaching deadline, and the deadline to come forward passed at midnight on June 10.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn, said: “Time has now run out for this unclaimed EuroMillions prize, and despite all our efforts to find the ticket-holder, no valid claim was made before the deadline.

“It’s incredibly disappointing that this life-changing opportunity has been missed.

“However, the money from this prize, along with the interest it has generated, will now go on to support National Lottery-funded projects, helping to make a difference to communities across the UK, including in and around the Powys area.”

Under National Lottery rules, if no claim is made within 180 days of the draw, the money is distributed to good causes.

Last year, £84 million was awarded to projects across Wales.

In Powys alone, 5,446 grants have been awarded to date, totalling more than £144 million.

Recent recipients in the county include Llanidloes Energy Solutions Ltd, which received £53,435 in 2026 for its Library of Things scheme, allowing residents to borrow equipment and tools.

Ystradgynlais Miners Welfare and Community Hall Trust Ltd was awarded £15,000 for an arts programme aimed at improving men’s mental health.

Radnorshire Wildlife Trust Ltd, a long-term beneficiary, has secured £1.6 million in total funding.

Its most recent award in 2026 will support work on sustainable food systems and community engagement.

The Game Change Project has also received £959,447 across seven separate projects.

The National Lottery raises around £33 million every week for good causes.

Since its launch, more than £53 billion has been raised to support projects in every postcode area across the UK.
