Powerball jackpot tops $900 million after no big winner Saturday

The Powerball jackpot for Monday’s drawing has topped $900 million after no big winners Saturday night.
Monday’s $905 million jackpot, with a $391.9 million cash prize, will be the eighth-largest jackpot in Powerball history. Monday’s drawing will be the 43rd consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner. The last Powerball jackpot was won on May 2, when ticket holders in Florida and Texas split a $20 million prize.

The Powerball numbers for Saturday, Aug. 8, are 5, 9, 35, 54, 63 and red powerball 7. The power play multiplier was 3.

Four tickets matched all five white balls and won $1 million each. The winning tickets were sold in Arizona, Florida, Michigan, and New York. Another ticket sold in Texas won $2 million.
The Powerball jackpot was last won on May 2, when two tickets in Florida and Texas split a $20 million jackpot.

Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and now the U.K. In the game, players choose five white-ball numbers from 1 to 69 and one red Powerball number from 1 to 26.

The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. Lottery officials say those odds won’t change with recent added sales in the U.K.

If a U.S. player wins the jackpot, they can opt for an annuity, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump-sum payment. Both prize options are before taxes.
