The Powerball jackpot is now reaching a huge milestone.
After no ticket matched all the numbers in Monday night’s drawing, the estimated jackpot for Wednesday, August 12, has climbed to at least $1 billion. That makes it the biggest U.S. lottery jackpot so far in 2026.
The cash option is estimated at $433.1 million before taxes for a potential jackpot winner. Players can also choose an annuity paid through 30 installments over 29 years.

The winning numbers were:
6 – 37 – 54 – 55 – 64
No ticket matched all five white balls plus the red Powerball. That means the jackpot rolls forward to Wednesday night.
There were still plenty of chances to win smaller prizes. Matching some of the numbers can lead to prizes even when nobody hits the jackpot.
Powerball Jackpot Reaches $1 Billion
Wednesday’s drawing marks the 44th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner. The last Powerball jackpot win came on May 2. Tickets sold in Florida and Texas split a $20 million prize in that drawing. Reaching the $1 billion mark is also rare.
This is only the 15th time a U.S. lottery jackpot has reached that level. It is the eighth time a Powerball jackpot has reached $1 billion or more.
For comparison, the largest Powerball jackpot ever was $2.04 billion. A single ticket sold in California won that record prize in November 2022.
When Is the Next Powerball Drawing?
The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, at 10:59 p.m ET. Powerball drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday night.
A Powerball ticket costs $2. The jackpot odds are extremely long, at roughly 1 in 292.2 million. So, if you’re picking up a ticket for Wednesday night’s drawing, make sure you give yourself enough time before the sales deadline in your state.
