National Lottery funds new wildlife events coming to Salisbury

Wild Salisbury, delivered by Wildlife and Wellbeing, has been awarded funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to run activities in green spaces.
The project, running from 2026 to 2027, will offer low-cost, accessible nature events.
Polly Whyte, project lead at Wildlife and Wellbeing, said: “Salisbury has some incredible green spaces, but much of the wildlife around us goes unnoticed.

“Wild Salisbury is about helping people slow down, look closer and build a meaningful connection with the natural world.
“We want to thank National Lottery players for their support – this funding has allowed us to subsidise events so they are affordable and open to everyone.
“Whether your interest is bats, wildflowers, fungi or simply spending more time outdoors, there will be something for you.”
Events will take place near the city centre to encourage residents to explore local wildlife.
Activities will include bat nights, family nature workshops, and fungi and birdsong events.
A Bat Night is already scheduled for Saturday, June 20, at Avon Valley Nature Reserve.
Summer Solstice Sunset Celebrations will follow on June 21, at Castle Hill Country Park.
