National Lottery announces changes to Lotto game – Midwest Radio

The National Lottery has announced a number of changes to its Lotto and Lotto Plus games, aimed at improving players’ chances of winning and creating more millionaire winners.
The changes, which will come into effect later this year, will see the number of Lotto balls reduced from 47 to 45, with numbers 46 and 47 removed from the game.
The National Lottery says the move will improve the odds of winning across all Lotto prize categories, including the jackpot.
A major change will also see the top prize in Lotto Plus 2 increase from €250,000 to €1 million, giving players three potential millionaire-making opportunities when playing Lotto and the Plus games.
A new Monday night Lotto draw will also be introduced, meaning draws will now take place three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The National Lottery says the exact date for the changes to begin will be announced in the coming weeks.
National Lottery CEO, Cian Murphy says this will increase the number of millionaires created by the Lotto from 15 a year to 28.
