According to Michigan Lottery Connect, the largest prize of the week went to a Wayne County woman who claimed a winning $1.67 million Lotto 47 ticket.
The lucky 68-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the six Lotto 47 numbers drawn – 05-16-17-34-36-44 – in the April 25 drawing to win a $1.67 million jackpot. She bought the winning ticket at New Boston Fuel Stop Inc., located at 37330 Huron River Road in New Boston.
“My husband and I have been playing Lotto 47 since it began,” said the player. “We have a special set of numbers we usually play, so we played those and then at the last minute decided to add two sets of Easy Pick numbers to the ticket too.”
She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.16 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount. With her winnings she plans to buy a new car and then save the remainder.

“Every morning after the drawing, I check our tickets by looking at the winning numbers on MichiganLottery.com,” said the player’s husband. “As I checked off the numbers, I said to myself: ‘We won $5, then $100, then $2,500,’ and then when I checked off the last number to win the jackpot I yelled: ‘No way!’ I surprised my wife later that morning by handing her the ticket and showing her the winning numbers online.”
Another $1 million prize winner came in the Powerball, where a man in Fraser won using lucky numbers given to him from a Zoltar machine in Las Vegas 30 years ago.
“About 30 years ago, I was in Las Vegas and got a fortune from a Zoltar machine,” said Stephen Huesgen, 56. “On my fortune, there was a set of lucky numbers, so I have been playing those numbers on lottery games ever since.”

Huesgen matched the five white balls – 24-29-32-49-63 – in the April 22 drawing to win a $1 million prize. He bought the winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com. With his winnings, he plans to pay off his house and car, take a vacation, and save for retirement.
“The morning after the Powerball drawing, I saw an email from the Lottery, which is when I found out I’d won a $1 million Powerball prize. I yelled to my wife: ‘Is this real?’ I don’t think this is going to fully hit me until I cash the check!”
The final prize winner came from Lenawee County, where a lottery club won $1 million playing the Cash Surge Instant Game. The four-member Lucky Leprechauns lottery club bought the winning ticket at Busch’s, located at 1450 West Chicago Boulevard in Tecumseh.
“A few family members and I started playing the lottery together earlier this year,” said the club’s representative. “I bought the ticket and gave it to one of the other club members to scratch. When she said we’d won $1 million, I thought it was a joke. It was shocking and unbelievable!”

They chose to receive their prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount.
“With our winnings, we plan to spend some, share some, and save some,” said a club member.
