The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) on Friday conducted the Konkan Board Housing Lottery 2025 in Thane, allotting 5,354 houses and 77 plots through a computerised draw. The event, held at Dr Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagruha, was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister and Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde.

The draw was attended by Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, MP Naresh Mhaske, MLA Niranjan Davkhare, District Collector Dr Shrikrishna Panchal, MHADA vice president and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, Konkan Board Chief Officer Revati Gaikar, and other officials.
Calling it a ‘day of happiness for thousands of families,’ Shinde said the lottery symbolises the realization of a long-cherished dream of owning a home.

“A home is not just four walls — it represents safety, dignity and prosperity for every family. MHADA deserves appreciation for turning this dream into reality,” he said.

Shinde emphasised that the entire process was conducted transparently using computerised systems. “No recommendations or personal influence are entertained. For 5,354 homes, MHADA received over 1.84 lakh applications, which shows the public’s growing trust in the authority’s quality and affordability,” he added.

The Deputy CM said MHADA’s new housing policy prioritizes affordable homes for working women, senior citizens, students and mill workers. He also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Housing for All’ initiative and said Maharashtra is contributing significantly through large-scale cluster redevelopment projects in Mumbai and the MMR region.

“Government agencies like SRA and MMRDA are now working jointly to revive stalled projects and speed up construction. Cluster development will help create lakhs of homes with modern amenities such as open spaces, playgrounds and medical facilities,” Shinde said.
He noted that recent changes in GST slabs have also made housing more affordable for the salaried and middle-income groups. Maharashtra, he added, is the first state in the country to implement a housing policy for senior citizens.

“MHADA is not just a housing body, but a symbol of trust that brings happiness to people’s lives. Cluster redevelopment will play a major role in transforming Mumbai and the MMR,” Shinde added.
