How to play Mega Millions

Mega Millions tickets cost $5 per play and are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In some jurisdictions, tickets can also be purchased online.

Players choose five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 24. Those who prefer not to select their own numbers can ask for a Quick Pick (or Easy Pick), which lets a computer generate random selections.

Mega Millions tickets now include a built-in multiplier that boosts non-jackpot prizes by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X. Previously, players had to pay extra to add the Megaplier feature.
