Lucky Khan! :Nepal’s Tayab Khan wins Rs 125 Crore UAE Lottery Grand Prize

A Nepali national residing in Abu Dhabi has won the UAE Lottery’s Dh30 million (approximately Rs 1.25 billion) grand prize, becoming the first winner of the jackpot since the lottery operator revised its prize structure late last year.

The UAE Lottery on Tuesday identified the winner as Tayab Khan, a Nepali expatriate living in the United Arab Emirates capital. The lottery operator had earlier disclosed only a partially masked version of his name, sparking widespread curiosity among participants and followers of the draw.

In a statement, the lottery operator said Khan secured the jackpot after matching all seven winning numbers in the Lucky Day draw, instantly transforming his financial future.

The win marks the second grand-prize milestone for the UAE Lottery. In October 2025, the lottery awarded its first-ever Dh100 million jackpot before subsequently revising the top prize to Dh30 million under a new format.

According to the lottery operator, Khan had selected his winning numbers at random and was unaware of his success when the draw took place.

“I wasn’t even watching the draw,” Khan was quoted by Gulf News daily as saying. “When I found out through my email later, it was a fantastic feeling.”

Describing his reaction, Khan added: “I’m feeling absolutely amazing, like I’m in the sky.”

The winning draw was held during the Eid Al Adha holiday period. Lottery officials told the daily that the latest jackpot continues a string of major wins associated with Wednesday draws, which have also produced multiple Dh5 million prize winners in recent months.

The UAE Lottery has yet to release Khan’s photograph, saying further details will be made public following a formal interview with the winner.
