Louisiana Powerball drawing creates 11 new millionaires overnight

Louisiana is celebrating a historic month after the April 29 Powerball drawing produced a wave of winners across the state, creating 11 new millionaires in a single night.

According to the Louisiana Lottery, players statewide combined to win $16 million. The haul included six $1 million Match-5 prizes and five $2 million Match-5 + Power Play prizes, marking one of the most remarkable drawings in Louisiana Lottery history.

While the $143.4 million jackpot was ultimately claimed by ticket holders in Indiana and Kansas, Louisiana players still emerged as major winners, underscoring the state’s strong showing in multistate lottery games.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our 35th anniversary than with eleven of our players becoming millionaires in just one drawing,” Lottery President Rose Hudson said. “We are incredibly excited for all our big winners and look forward to meeting them.”

The winning numbers for the April 29 drawing were 03-19-35-51-67, with a red Powerball of 15.

Lottery officials noted that Denham Springs stood out, with one retailer selling both a $1 million and a $2 million winning ticket.

The Louisiana Lottery reminds players to sign the back of their tickets immediately to secure ownership. All draw-style game prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing date.
