Location revealed for first million-euro Lotto scratch card win
Ireland’s first-ever €1 million scratch card prize was won this week, with the National Lottery revealing the landmark moment on Monday morning.
The Lotto bosses have shared the county in which the lucky scratch card was bought, though its precise location will be revealed on Tuesday.
Ireland’s latest millionaire purchased the winning card in Wexford, scooping up the life-changing prize after the launch of the All Cash Millionaire game.
This marks the highest-ever figure that a player has won on an Irish scratch card, with celebrations undoubtedly soon to be underway.
National Lottery spokesperson, Darragh O’Dwyer, said: ‘This is a huge milestone for the National Lottery as we reveal that the top prize on the All Cash Millionaire Scratch Card, which is a first of its kind in Ireland, has now been won.
‘A player in Co Wexford has scratched their way to €1 million, becoming the first person in Ireland ever to win a €1 million prize on a Scratch Card.
‘To mark this historic moment, we’ll be in Wexford tomorrow, Tuesday, May 19, to officially reveal where the winning ticket was sold.’
It has been a big month for lottery players in Wexford, with one lucky winner securing a huge sum in the EuroDreams draw in recent weeks.
Different to standard prizes, the EuroDreams is a draw where anyone could win up to €20,000 a month for up to 30 years.
While there was no winner of the top prize, a Wexford player picked up a major €2,000 a month for the next five years, a staggering €120,000 total.
The Tier 2 prize was won after the winner purchased the ticket for the April 23 draw at the Top Oil Service Station in Tommalossett, Enniscorthy.
The winner said: ‘I’ve been playing EuroDreams since day one, so it’s fantastic to finally be here collecting this prize. I checked my ticket last Monday, and it turned an ordinary start to the week into something really special!
‘I have to say, I feel surprisingly relaxed about it all, just really happy to be enjoying the moment and soaking it all up.’
