List of countries excluded from DV-2026 Green Card Lottery announced

The US State Department has released a list of countries whose citizens will not be able to participate in the annual Green Card Diversity Visa Lottery DV-2025. This year, 18 countries were excluded.

Countries whose citizens are ineligible because more than 50,000 citizens of these countries immigrated to the United States in the last five years:

• Bangladesh
• Brazil
• Canada
• China (including Hong Kong)
• Colombia
• Dominican Republic
• El Salvador
• Haiti
• Honduras
• India
• Jamaica
• Mexico
• Nigeria
• Pakistan
• Philippines
• Republic of Korea
• Venezuela
• Vietnam

It is important to note that despite the general exclusion of China, individuals born in Macau and Taiwan remain eligible to participate in the lottery.
In addition, the State Department has announced registration dates for the following Green Card Lottery:

• Registration for the DV-2026 lottery will be open from October 2, 2024 to November 5, 2024.
• DV-2026 lottery results will be available beginning May 3, 2025.
