Irish Lottery Winner Steps Forward to Claim €8.7M Jackpot

The winner behind a sizeable EUR 8.7 million Lotto jackpot has finally stepped forward to claim the reward, having given the lottery and lottery aficionados a few reasons to worry about as they remained fairly silent over the past 10 days.

The original win, amounting to EUR 8,726,418, was won on May 2, with the person becoming the second winner of the Lotto jackpot in 2026.

The player had played the Quick Pick ticket, which they purchased at an Applegreen Ballymount. While information about the winner has remained fairly scant, the lottery has confirmed that the person has already contacted the lottery for collection.

In a statement, the lottery said: “Our Lotto Jackpot winner has now made contact. The winner contacted our Prize Claims team, and arrangements are now underway for them to collect their prize.”

The shop managers were also excited to have found out that their property had sold a mult-millon ticket.

“Getting a call from the National Lottery to say that our store sold a Lotto jackpot ticket worth over €8.7 million was the best way to get the week started,” added site director at Applegreen Ballymount, Tom Hevey.

“Applegreen Ballymount is a busy location with local and passing trade, so we hope that the winner checks their ticket soon – we wish them all the very best with their huge win,” Hevey added.
