Where and When the Draw Takes Place

The Lotto, Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto 5 Plus draws are broadcast live every Wednesday and Saturday on e.tv and SABC 2 at 21:00.

Players purchasing tickets at a physical retailer have until 20:40 to do so.

Tickets may be bought at participating retailers, via the official National Lottery website, through the National Lottery mobile app, via online banking platforms at major banks, or by dialling 1207529# via USSD. Only players aged 18 and above may participate.

How the Lotto Works

Players select six numbers between 1 and 52, or opt for a computer-generated Quick Pick. Six main numbers and one Bonus Ball are drawn, with prizes awarded for matching at least three numbers. Matching all six numbers wins a share of the jackpot. If no one hits the jackpot, it rolls over to the next draw.

The entry fee is R5.00 per board.

Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto 5 Max

For an extra R2.50 per board per game, players may enter:

  • Lotto Plus 1 – a second chance to win
  • Lotto 5 Max – a third chance to win

Both games follow the same rules and odds, though prize amounts are typically smaller.

However, a standout feature of the new Lotto 5 Max is its guaranteed payout approach.

If the jackpot is not won after a set number of consecutive draws, the prize money is not rolled over indefinitely – it is shared among players in lower winning tiers, giving back to the community of players.

Past Results and Verification

Players who believe they may have missed previous draws can review historical results and payouts via the National Lottery’s official platforms.
