Greenville woman wins $1 million lottery prize on scratch-off ticket

A Greenville woman is $1 million richer after winning the top prize on a North Carolina Education Lottery scratch-off ticket.
The lottery said Jeanette King bought a $20 Jackpot Millions ticket at the Harris Teeter on Evans Street in Greenville and won the game’s first $1 million top prize.
King claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters, where she chose to receive a lump sum of $600,000 instead of an annuity of $50,000 a year for 20 years.
After required state and federal tax withholdings, King took home $432,066.
The Jackpot Millions game debuted this month with three $1 million top prizes. Lottery officials said two of those top prizes remain unclaimed.
The North Carolina Education Lottery said Pitt County received $10.7 million in lottery funds for education programs last year.
