Another player netted Lotto’s Second Division prize of $50,323.
If Powerball is struck on Saturday, it would be the second biggest Powerball win of 2026, after a single ticket bought in Ashburton won an eye-watering $28.2m early last month.
Some of the largest Lotto Powerball wins so far this year include a $14.3m ticket won by a MyLotto player from New Plymouth on April 15 and a $25.5m prize that was split between two players in late March.
Each person took home $12.75m. Their prize included a $250,000 bonus win in Lotto First Division from the same draw.
What to do if you win
Ticket holders can immediately see if they have won if they purchased a ticket through the MyLotto app. Prizes of $1000 or less are automatically credited to the account.
For prizes exceeding $1000, winners must complete an online prize claim form.
Winners with physical tickets must still visit a Lotto retailer to claim their prize.
For the Powerball jackpot to be claimed, a ticket holder must get all six Lotto numbers correct as well as the added Powerball number.
