Falkirk couple win £1m Lotto jackpot after beating deadline
A Falkirk couple who only remembered to stick on their numbers two hours before the draw, were later stunned to discover they had won £1 million on The National Lottery New Lotto.
The winners, who have played the same birthday-based numbers for two years, bought the winning ticket for the June 24 draw after receiving a deadline notification from the Lottery app. After matching five main numbers and the bonus ball, the couple walked away with the life-changing windfall.
They said of the win: “It’s a real mix of emotions, but just knowing we have financial security feels amazing. It just goes to show that whether it’s playing for one year or 25, it can make you a winner.”
Lynn Devlin, winners experience lead at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery congratulated the Falkirk-based winners, saying: “What a fitting tribute to your family that you won using their birthday dates.
“Many congratulations on your win, and we wish you all the best.”
The couple have chosen not to be named.
