Did you win? Illinois Lottery player lands $700,000 Lucky Day Lotto jackpot

Another Illinois Lottery player is $700,000 richer after hitting a Lucky Day Lotto jackpot.

According to the Illinois Lottery, the winning ticket was sold at a newly reopened convenience store in Cook County, that reopened about three months ago under new management after being converted from a former pharmacy.

“We’ve updated the store, expanded our offerings, and now we’re welcoming more customers than ever,” owner Ben said.

The winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket was purchased at Franklin Food & Liquors, at 9735 W. Franklin Ave in Franklin Park. The ticket matched all five numbers — 9, 13, 15, 16, 37 — to win the game’s jackpot on Sunday, Aug. 2 evening drawing.

Vicky, who has volunteered at the store for two decades, sold the jackpot-winning ticket.

“Vicky sold the winning ticket and called me to share the news,” Ben said. “I feel so blessed that our store sold this winning ticket, and congratulations to the lucky winner.”

The Illinois Lottery will give Franklin Food & Liquors a $7,000 bonus, 1% of the prize, for selling the winning ticket. The owner mentioned that the incentive will fund reinvestment in the business and community.

“This prize will help us continue improving the store, expand our inventory, and better serve our customers and neighborhood,” he said. 

Lucky Day Lotto is an Illinois-only draw game with two daily drawings.

According to the Illinois Lottery, more than 7 million winning Lucky Day Lotto tickets have been sold this year, with players statewide claiming more than $41 million in prizes.

Players can check winning numbers through the Illinois Lottery app or at IllinoisLottery.com. The Lucky Day Lotto winner has one year from the drawing date to claim the prize. Illinois Lottery officials encourage the winner to sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place until they are ready to claim it.
