The Powerball jackpot keeps getting bigger. The $1.7 billion prize is now the fourth-largest jackpot in U.S. history.

When is the next Powerball drawing?

The $1.7 billion Powerball jackpot will be up for grabs in the drawing on Wednesday, Dec. 24. Powerball drawings take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Is the Powerball lottery breaking records?

Wednesday, Dec. 24, will mark the 47th drawing since the jackpot was last won in September, extending a record for the longest jackpot run in the 33-year history of the game.

This marks only the second time in Powerball history that the game has produced back-to-back jackpots exceeding $1 billion. The other occurrence was in 2023, when a $1.08 billion jackpot was won in July, followed by a $1.765 billion jackpot won in October.

Iowa Lottery players won a total of 37,996 prizes in Monday’s Powerball drawing, including one ticket that was only one number away from winning.

That ticket matched four of five white balls and the Powerball to win $50,000. It was purchased at Casey’s, 780 N. Main St. in Walcott.
