California players win big as Mega Millions jackpot grows – AOL
Several lottery players in California are celebrating recent big wins ahead of Friday night’s $215 million Mega Millions drawing.
While Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing did not produce a jackpot winner, one lucky ticket from Southern California matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball for a $75,723 payday.
That ticket, which included a 3X multiplier, was sold at Hawaii Super Market at 120 E. Valley Blvd. in San Gabriel, according to California Lottery officials.
Another recent Mega Millions winner also crossed the million-dollar mark.
William Hawkins won more than $1.2 million after matching five numbers and missing only the Mega Ball in the Jan. 23 drawing. Hawkins purchased his ticket, which also had a 3X multiplier, at the ARCO station at 280 W. Nuevo Road in Perris.
Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing takes place at 8 p.m. Ticket sales close at 7:45 p.m. on the day of the draw.
Meanwhile, two more Californians took home $1 million prizes playing Power 10s Scratchers, lottery officials said.
Ronald Franz won his million with a ticket purchased from Rosewood’s Restaurant in Cerritos. In Northern California, Margaret Davs collected her million with a game bought at Hillcrest Liquor & Food in Antioch.
California Lottery funds are used by public schools across the state to provide classrooms with technology and students with hands-on learning materials.
