Beauregard Parish man claims $2M lottery prize; convenience store gets $20K

BEAUREGARD PARISH, La. (KPLC) – A Singer man has claimed a $2-million lottery prize from a ticket sold in Beauregard Parish.
George McLeod bought the Powerball ticket at Singer Food Store on La. 27, according to the Louisiana Lottery. Store Owner and Manager Tahir Swati said he and his team started “cheering and dancing” when they learned they had sold a winning ticket.
McLeod took home $1.46 million after taxes, and the store earned a $20,000 bonus, according to the Louisiana Lottery.
McLeod was one of 11 people in Louisiana to become millionaires after the April 29 Powerball drawing. One of the $1-million prizes remains unclaimed as of June 1.
The winning numbers were 03-19-35-51-67, with the red Powerball number being 15. The last prize must be claimed by Oct. 26.
