Members of Santiago Martin’s family, popularly known as the lottery king of India, contested elections from different political platforms but achieved the same result. Their wins highlight a significant political emergence, with each candidate carving success in different regions and political alliances.
The lottery baron’s wife, Leema Rose Martin, contested from Lalgudi on an AIADMK ticket, while his son-in-law, Aadhav Arjuna Reddy, fought from Villivakkam representing the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
His son, Jose Charles Martin, contested from Kamaraj Nagar in Puducherry on behalf of his own party, Latchiya Jananayaka Katchi (LJK), which is allied with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). All three candidates emerged victorious in the elections.

Aadhav Arjuna Reddy emerged as the most prominent winner among the trio. Contesting from the Villivakkam constituency in Chennai as a key leader of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), he secured a decisive victory with a margin of over 17,300 votes. He’s a trusted associate of actor-politician Vijay.
Leema Rose Martin clinches Lalgudi
Leema Rose Martin won from the Lalgudi constituency, Tamil Nadu, on a ticket from the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). Despite facing stiff competition from rivals, including the DMK and TVK, she secured victory by a margin of around 2,500 votes.
Leema, who declared assets exceeding ?1,000 crore, became the first woman candidate from AIADMK to win in central Tamil Nadu. Her strategic choice of Lalgudi, despite not having any link, paid off due to favourable voter demographics.

In Puducherry, Charles Martin made a successful electoral debut. Founder of the Latchiya Jananayaka Katchi (LJK), he contested from Kamaraj Nagar and won by a margin of over 10,000 votes. Initially planning to contest independently in all 30 seats, his party later joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) alliance, partnering with the BJP and AINRC. His victory marked a strong debut for the newly formed party, which won one of the two seats it contested.
A new political force emerges
All three candidates were among the wealthiest in their respective constituencies. While Leema Rose Martin topped the list with declared assets of over ?1,049 crore, Jose Charles reported around ?610 crore, and Aadhav Arjuna declared approximately ?197 crore.
With representation in both Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the family’s growing political footprint is likely to shape regional dynamics in the coming years.
