Oakland County man buys winning lottery ticket worth $1 million in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – An Oakland County man is looking forward to giving his kids a better future after winning $1 million from a scratch-off.
“I stopped at the store and bought three lottery tickets,” said the lucky 48-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “I didn’t win anything on the first two tickets, then I scratched the third ticket and was in total disbelief when I saw I’d won $1 million!
“I feel so blessed to win a prize like this. It’s going to give our family a sense of financial security and will allow us to give our kids a better future.”
The player bought his winning ticket at Main Street Convenience Inc., located at 402 South Main Street in Ann Arbor.
He recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount.
With his winnings, he plans to start college funds for his children.
