Mega Millions numbers for 08/28/26: Pair of tickets win $3 million prize

The Mega Millions jackpot keeps climbing as there was no winner of the $145 million grand prize for the drawing held on Friday, Aug. 28. That means the drawing on Tuesday, Sept. 1 will be worth $160 million, with a cash option of $68.9 million.

The winning numbers are: 8-17-29-42-55

Mega Ball: 2

Mega Millions winners for Aug. 28:

  • While there was no grand prize winner, two players matched all five white balls drawn to win a $1 million base prize. Those tickets were sold in Missouri and Tennessee.

  • Both players had a 3x multiplier, which increased their win to $3 million. That was the largest prize won in the drawing.

  • Four players matched four white balls and the Mega Ball to win a $10,000 base prize. One of those players had a 10x multiplier, which increased their winnings to $100,000.

  • A total of 210,721 winning tickets were sold in the drawing.

Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET. Five balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 70; the Mega Ball is drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 24. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 290 million.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states, plus the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $5 each.
