Someone in south-central Kansas wins big Powerball prize as jackpot grows

Someone who bought a Powerball ticket from a retailer in south-central Kansas has won a big lottery prize.
The Powerball player won $50,000 in the Aug. 24 drawing, according to the Kansas Lottery.
The winner matched four of the white balls and the Powerball — just one white ball short from winning the estimated $83 million jackpot. The numbers drawn were 3, 16, 33, 38 and 68 with a Powerball of 2.
Nobody won the jackpot, so the pot has grown to an estimated $96 million for the Wednesday drawing. The jackpot has a cash value of about $41.2 million.
The Kansas Lottery does not reveal retailers that sold winning tickets until after winners have claimed their prizes.
The south-central Kansas lottery region includes Sedgwick County.
