A Father’s Day lottery ticket just became the biggest instant jackpot win in Michigan history

LANSING, MI — A family tradition recently led a Michigan lottery club to the largest instant lottery win ever in the state. On Father’s Day, the members of the Lucky Dogz lottery club won an $8 million jackpot playing the Michigan Lottery’s $8,000,000 Payout instant game.

“Our family often buys lottery tickets for holidays and special occasions, so my brother and I bought our dad a $8,000,000 Payout ticket for Father’s Day,” said a club member. “Our dad scratched the ticket and then handed it to us to check when he saw he’d won $8 million.

“We looked it over and then I scanned it to confirm what we were seeing. It was unbelievable when we found out it really was an $8 million winner! We talked it over and decided to split the prize equally among the three of us.”

The winning ticket was sold at the Caseville One Stop Shop, located at 7095 Port Austin Road in Caseville. The three-member club from Huron County claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Lansing recently.

The group elected to receive the money as a one-time, lump sum payment of $5.5 million, rather than the annuity. The members say they plan on saving their winnings.

The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot is the Breakfast Club lottery club which claimed an $842 million jackpot in June 2024. The members plan to use the money to buy a home in Florida and travel.

And while they were lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately. Recently, a KENO! winner worth $250,000 sold in Belleville in 2025 went unclaimed. That money went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
