Louisiana Ticket Wins $150,000 In Saturday Powerball Drawing
(KMDL-FM) The multi-state game Powerball and the Louisiana Lottery have both confirmed a $150,000 win in Louisiana from Saturday night’s Powerball drawing. The jackpot at the time of the drawing was estimated at $69 million, with a cash (lump-sum) payout projected at $29.7 million.
The Powerball jackpot has been slowly growing since the game had a jackpot winner on August 12th. In that drawing, a ticket sold in Quincy, Illinois earned the jackpot prize of $1.04 billion. No one in Louisiana won big, but that same night, two tickets sold in New Iberia split the jackpot in the Easy 5 game.
There have been four Powerball drawings since the game had its $1.04 billion winner. After each jackpot win, Powerball resets the jackpot to $50 million. But in order to entice players who aren’t “regulars,” the game offers something special in the form of its Power Play option.
How Do You Add Power Play to a Powerball Lottery Ticket?
A Powerball ticket costs $2, but for an extra dollar you can purchase Power Play. That is the multiplier function of the game that is chosen at random as part of each drawing. Anytime the Powerball jackpot is below $150 million, there is a chance that the Powerball Power Play multiplier can be 10x. This can really enhance the return on your $3 investment.

Louisiana Powerball Ticket Wins Largest Prize Awarded in Saturday’s Drawing
That means the largest single prize payout in Saturday’s game was $150,000. Three tickets matched the numbers needed to claim that prize; one of those tickets was sold in Louisiana. After the $150,000 win, the prize amounts won in Louisiana drop off considerably; the next largest single ticket payout is only $400.
The Louisiana Lottery has not revealed where the $150,000 winner was sold; we should get those details later today. There was no winner in the Lotto game; that jackpot will now be an estimated $3.75 million on Wednesday night. The Easy 5 jackpot will be $80,00 on Wednesday night. Tuesday night’s Mega Millions game will play for an estimated top prize of $130 million.
