Company claims sixth-biggest prize in Texas Lotto history days before expiring

A $78 million Texas Lotto ticket was claimed by a South Dakota company just days before the ticket expired.

The winning ticket, which matched all six of the numbers drawn was purchased Nov. 15, 2025 at Gordon’s Bait & Tackle, at 7066 Padre Island Highway, in Brownsville.

“Under Lottery rules, a ticket holder forfeits any claim to a prize for a draw game after the expiration of the 180th day following the draw date,” according to the Texas Lottery Commission.

This particular Lotto Texas jackpot started as an advertised $5 million prize for the drawing on Feb. 19, 2025, and stretched to 116 drawings before it was hit on Nov. 15, 2025. It marked the sixth-largest jackpot in Lotto Texas history.

A cash-value option was chosen at the time of purchase and the winner was awarded $43.7 million before taxes.

Lotto Texas drawings take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:12 p.m. Central time.
