Texas lottery winner nabs $41M jackpot prize. What are they spending it on?
The claimant purchased the winning Quick Pick ticket at a 7-Eleven Convenience Store, at 3700 Interstate Highway 30 in Mesquite.
If you’ve ever wanted a peek inside a Texas lottery winner’s mind, here’s your chance.
A Richardson resident has claimed the Lotto Texas jackpot prize, worth an annuitized $41 million, won during the April 20 drawing, according to the Texas Lottery. They chose the cash option, though, good for $22.6 million before tax.
Although the claimant chose to remain anonymous, they weren’t shy about sharing what they’d be spending their prize money on.
The claimant — a married parent and grandparent — said they would be sharing the money to help their children and grandchildren,” according to the Texas Lottery. They also said they’d like to spend a portion of the funds to travel, stating “there’s a whole world out there I need to see!”
The claimant purchased the winning Quick Pick ticket at 7-Eleven, at 3700 Interstate Highway 30 in Mesquite. However, it was actually the claimant’s spouse who discovered the win.
Late at night, after the claimant had already gone to bed, their spouse checked the ticket several times to confirm it matched all of the numbers drawn. After verifying it was indeed a winner, the claimant’s spouse woke them up with the news.
While the claimant’s spouse was able to catch some sleep that night, the claimant couldn’t catch a single wink. “We haven’t missed a Lotto Texas drawing in 30 years,” they said. “I stayed up all night thinking about it!”
