The luckiest lotto postcodes revealed
Victoria has being crowned the home of lotto winners after more than $420m in division one prizes were won in the state in the last financial year.
Victoria claimed 138 division one wins, the highest number in the country, but NSW pocketed the largest share of prize money at $452.8m.
The biggest individual prize was an $80m Powerball jackpot won by a retired man in Altona in Melbourne’s west.
NSW also claimed the title of the state that created the most new millionaires, with 91 division one winners followed by 82 in Victoria, 66 in Queensland and 65 in Western Australia.

The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said the results showed major wins were spread across both metropolitan and regional areas.
“Every draw is entirely random and every entry has its own chance of winning but the data does show some postcodes enjoyed a particularly memorable run of division one success.”
Melbourne’s CBD postcode, 3000, and the Cairns/Earlville postcode, 4870, were among the country’s luckiest.
“No matter where you buy your entry, the message from our winners is always the same: you need a ticket in the draw to have a chance of taking home the prize.”
