State record $34M Lotto America lottery ticket won in Minnesota

Someone in Minnesota has won a record lottery prize.

The Minnesota Lottery says the jackpot-winning Lotto America ticket from July 18, worth $34.12 million (or $15.15 million in cash), was bought in Coon Rapids.

That makes it the largest Lotto America jackpot ever won in Minnesota, the state lottery says.

The winner has one year to claim the prize at the lottery headquarters in Roseville.

State officials say another Minnesota Lottery player won $20,000 in the same drawing, and the state also had winners across all of the nine Lotto America prize tiers in the same drawing for the first time ever.

For selling the jackpot-winning ticket, the Holiday on Coon Rapids Boulevard will get a $10,000 bonus.

“This is an exciting and historic moment for Minnesota Lottery players,” Minnesota Lottery Executive Director Adam Prock said. “A jackpot win of this magnitude creates excitement across the state and highlights the fun that comes with playing the Lottery. We’re thrilled to celebrate this incredible win while continuing to generate proceeds that benefit Minnesotans.”
