Oswego gas station sells $1.3 million winning lottery ticket to Chicago area resident
A Chicago area resident is celebrating after winning a $1.3 million Lucky Day Lotto jackpot from a ticket bought in Oswego.
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, bought the winning ticket at the Oswego BP, located at 2791 U.S. Route 34.
“I just stopped by the store for a drink and thought, ‘Why not?’” the winner said in a news release from the Illinois Lottery. “I played a Quick Pick, and it turned out to be a lucky day.”
The ticket matched all five numbers in the June 11 evening Lucky Day Lotto drawing to score the game’s $1,300,000 jackpot. The winning numbers were 1-13-19-27-35.
The winner said he initially struggled to believe the news.
“I didn’t believe it at first – I asked myself, ‘Am I dreaming?’” he said in the release. “Once I scanned the ticket and realized the numbers matched, reality set in.”
This isn’t the first time the man has held a winning Illinois Lottery ticket.
“It’s funny – I actually won a $45,000 prize playing this same game 15 years ago when it was called Little Lotto,” he said.
The winner plans to use the prize money to buy a new house and help provide financial security for himself and his wife’s retirement, the Illinois Lottery said in the release.
“We are just so grateful for this blessing,” he said. With a laugh, he said. “I’m sure our kids will be, too.”
For selling the jackpot-winning ticket, the Oswego BP will receive a bonus of 1% of the prize amount, totaling $13,000.
