North Bay woman wins jackpot on her birthday
The 72-year-old said she’s been playing the lottery with OLG for almost 50 years
Cathy P. of North Bay can “find her possible” after winning a LOTTO 6/49 second prize worth $89,102.50 in the May 16 draw.
OLG did not provide a last name.
The 72-year-old said she’s been playing the lottery with OLG for almost 50 years and discovered she’d won this prize on her birthday.
“I couldn’t believe it,” she recalled while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her winnings. “After checking my ticket, I brought it to my husband and said, ‘I think I’m a winner!’ He double-checked it on his phone, and then I called my sister to tell her I won big. When I shared the news with the rest of my family, everyone was very excited.
“It still hasn’t sunk in,” Cathy continued. “I’m considering putting some of this win toward a vacation out east with my sister.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Esso/On the Run on Algonquin Avenue in North Bay.
