A Sheffield home owner in the Darnall area became the city’s first winner of the People’s Postcode Lottery for the month of June.
Residents on Greenwood Road (S9 4GT) have scooped up a cash prize of £1,000 after their door was named in the draw on Monday 1 June – giving them a welcome financial boost heading into the summer months.
It made them the first and so far only winners from Sheffield in June so far. However, it’s worth noting that at the end of May one lucky resident from not too far away in Old Tupon, Mill Lane in Chesterfield bagged themselves the top prize of £333,333 in an incredible moment for the household.
Overall, Sheffield had six winners in May, who all bagged £1,000 each. These were from Cricket Inn Road (Manor Castle) , Castle Close (Penistone), Elm Lane (Sheffield Lane Top), Pitt Street (Eckington), Ella Road (Pitsmoor) and Slinn Street, (Crookes).
The People’s Postcode Lottery is a subscription lottery which costs £12.25 per month to play. People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.
At least 33 per cent of the ticket price goes to a worthy cause and players of the People’s Postcode Lottery have raised more than £1.2billion to date for charities and organisations.
