It will be a first in the history of the Lotto game
The National Lottery has announced a major change coming to its Lotto format this month, and it is expected to more than double the number of Lotto millionaires made each year.
From Sunday (June 7), the National Lottery has revealed it will be giving Lotto players two chances win with every purchased £2 ticket. This will mark the first time Lotto players have been able to win twice with each ticket since the game was launched.
Lotto has revealed that from June 7 it will offer players two chances to win with every line of numbers they play. This means that each Wednesday and Saturday Lotto draw will now feature two rounds.

It will cost the same to play, but the number of millionaires made from the game is expected to double from around 140 a year to about 345. To take part, players will need to pay £2 for a line of numbers, and pick six from the selection, or punt for a random selection in the Lucky Dip.
As usual, a first round of numbers will be drawn every Wednesday and Saturday night and players who match two or more numbers from their Lotto line will win a cash prize. However, under the new rules, a second round of number will be drawn, and anyone who matches two or more numbers from the same Lotto line will win again.
Winnings start at £1 for round one and two of the Lotto draw, when two numbers are matched, with this rising to a prize of up to £1 million for anyone who matches five numbers and the bonus ball in the draws. Anyone who matches six numbers in round one and two of the jackpot will then win a share of the night’s total jackpot.
The National Lottery is also set to launch a new game this summer. It will launch the Powerball game which will see UK players pay £4 per line to compete with their US counterparts as part of the world’s biggest jackpot game.
