1970’s store sells $1 million Texas Lottery prize. Here’s where.

Feeling lucky? One San Antonio resident sure is after snagging a $1 million winning scratch ticket on the Southeast Side.

The local became rich after purchasing a “200X The Cash” card, which has an overall success chance of 1 in 3.88, according to the Texas Lottery. The award was announced in a Wednesday, May 20, press release, revealing the location where the life-changing item was bought.

Officials say it was displayed on the shelves inside the Times Market, located at 1910 S. Hackberry Street, near Highland Park. The building has some history. It was built in 1970, per the real estate company Compass. It sells a quaint collection of groceries and features fuel stations.

The Texan, who claimed their funds on Friday, May 15, has asked for their identity to remain a secret. A customer must pay $20 for a chance to win big in “200X The Cash.” To play, a patron scratches off the line of “winning numbers” on their card and tries to match them with the figures in the area of the ticket below that line. Bonus boxes offer additional chances to win $50, $100, or $200 more than what the spots reveal, according to the Texas Lottery website.

Overall, this game offers more than $103 million in total prizes. Other games offered by the Texas Lottery include the Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto Texas, and Texas Two Step.

It’s not the first big win announced in Texas this month. A Richardson resident based near Dallas scored a mind-boggling $41 million after their Quick Pick Texas Lotto numbers were pulled in a late April drawing. In a statement, they were quoted as saying they planned to spend some of the money on their grandchildren and travel.

“There’s a whole world out there I need to see,” they said.
