$1 million richer: Maryland gets second straight Powerball winner

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (7News) — Someone who bought a Powerball ticket at a 7-Eleven in College Park, Maryland, is now $1 million richer.

The ticket matched the first five numbers in Aug. 1’s drawing: 6, 17, 27, 38, and 50. It missed the jackpot after failing to match the Powerball number 5, according to the Maryland Lottery.

The winning ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven at 8905 Rhode Island Avenue.

Another ticket sold at Max Liquors, located at 736 Fredericks Road in Catonsville, won $50,000 by matching four of the first five numbers and the Powerball.

The prizes were among 30,658 winning Powerball tickets sold in Maryland for Saturday’s drawing.

Saturday’s win is the second consecutive Powerball drawing to produce a $1 million winner in Maryland. A ticket sold at the Royal Farms at 1558 Annapolis Road in Odenton won $1 million in the July 29 drawing.

Winners have 182 days from the drawing date to claim their prizes.

No one matched all six numbers Saturday, pushing Monday’s estimated jackpot to $748 million. The estimated cash option is $325.1 million.

The Powerball jackpot has not been won since May 2. Since then, Maryland players have won more than $6 million in prizes.

Powerball drawings are held Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights. Tickets cost $2.
