Pride group receives £2,000 boost from lottery fund

Great Yarmouth and Waveney Pride received the funding through the Postcode Lottery Grassroots Grants programme, thanks to players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
A spokesman for the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Pride Organisational Committee said: “This grant from Postcode Trust is a game-changer for Great Yarmouth & Waveney Pride.
“It helps us deliver our 2026 event full of live performances and community joy.
“Thank you so much to Postcode Trust and all People’s Postcode Lottery players for standing with us!
The 2026 Great Yarmouth pride event will take place on Saturday, August 29 from 12pm to 8pm at The Drill House on York Road.
The Grassroots Grants programme is a partnership between the Postcode Lottery and Groundwork.
It supports small, local organisations with flexible, unrestricted funding to use where it’s needed most.
Laura Chow, head of charities at the Postcode Lottery, said: “We are delighted that players of the Postcode Lottery will support small community-based organisations through this funding opportunity, thanks to our partnership with Groundwork UK. “I encourage smaller, local charities and groups to visit our trust websites for more details.”
The funding is made possible by players of the Postcode Lottery and is distributed through Postcode Local Trust, Postcode Places Trust, Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, and Postcode Society Trust.
Graham Duxbury, chief executive of Groundwork UK, highlighted the impact of the programme.
Mr Duxbury said: “The value of locally led action is second to none when it comes to making lasting positive change in the communities which need it most. “Unrestricted funding for small organisations with expert local knowledge and lived experience is a key component to ensuring communities can take control of their own destinies.”
