Powerball Drawing Yields 91 Millionaire Winners Across 20 States
A Powerball drawing on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, created 91 new millionaires overnight in what officials describe as one of the highest volumes of winning tickets in the game’s history. Two jackpot winners located in Indiana and Kansas will split the $143 million grand prize, which carries an estimated cash value of $65.2 million.
Beyond the jackpot winners, 90 additional tickets sold across 20 states matched all five white ball numbers to secure $1 million prizes. According to the Powerball website, 27 of those winners utilized the Power Play option, which doubled their individual payouts to $2 million.
The winning numbers for the Wednesday night draw were 3, 19, 35, 51, and 67, with a Powerball of 15 and a 2x Power Play multiplier. Lottery officials stated that the odds of winning the grand prize remain at 1 in 292,201,338.
New Jersey and Indiana saw the highest concentration of million-dollar winners with 14 each, while Louisiana followed with six and Kansas and Pennsylvania each recorded five. Other winning tickets were distributed across states including Arkansas, Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, and Wisconsin.
This surge in winners comes less than a month after a single ticket holder in Delaware claimed a $231 million jackpot on April 6. Following the most recent drawing, the Powerball jackpot has reset to $20 million for the next scheduled event on Saturday, May 2.
Financial experts advise large-scale winners to consult with professionals before claiming their prizes to manage the significant tax implications and legal challenges. Most states allow winners up to one year to come forward, providing time to establish a financial team.
“So by far, the biggest misconception that we hear or read and see is, is that the money seems to be infinite when it certainly is not,” said Shean Fletcher, a wealth adviser, in a statement to The Associated Press. Fletcher emphasized that winners should coordinate with lawyers and accountants to create a long-term sustainability plan.
Public disclosure laws vary by geography, with 19 states currently allowing lottery winners to remain partially or fully anonymous. In all other jurisdictions, winners are generally required to participate in public announcements within one year of the drawing date.
