The Connecticut Lottery player matched four white balls and the red Powerball to win. The player initially won $50,000, and $150,000 was added to their winnings due to a Power Play. The odds of winning were one in more than 913,000, according to the Powerball odds page.
The winning ticket had yet to be claimed as of Thursday morning, according to Connecticut Lottery. There were 5,167 winning Powerball tickets sold in Connecticut in Wednesday’s drawing.
In the Nutmeg State, winning “draw game” tickets (Powerball, Mega Millions, Classic Lotto, Lucky for Life, Super Draw, Cash5 and Play3 and Play4) must be claimed within 180 days from the date of the drawing. Winning tickets that total $50,000 or larger must be claimed in person at Connecticut Lottery’s headquarters in Wallingford.
The next Powerball drawing is Saturday night. The current estimated jackpot of the Powerball is $172 million, with a cash option of $75.6 million.
Powerball drawings occur every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EST and are broadcast live on Powerball’s “Watch the Drawing” page. A Powerball ticket costs $2, and players can purchase a Power Play feature for an additional $1 per wager, which can multiply prizes by up to 10 times, according to the Connecticut Lottery Powerball page.
Players in Connecticut must make wagers by 10 p.m. to be considered in a drawing occurring the same night, according to the Connecticut Lottery drawing schedule.
