Lottery Millionaire Winner

Lohrville, Iowa Man Craves Cream Soda, Wins $100,000 A Year For Life

Not all cravings are bad ideas.

Sometimes you just get on that kick of “you know what sounds good right now?” but rarely does it lead to a life-changing payout. In fact we wince spending the $4 but one guy didn’t.

According to the Iowa Lottery, Doug Dearborn from Lohrville, became Iowa’s first big Millionaire For Life winner.

He didn’t set out to play the lottery. Doug just wanted a cream soda so he stopped by Brew, 210 W. Main St. in Sac City and figured he’d try a Millionaire For Life ticket. It was probably a good decision as the ticket he got matched all 5 white balls in Friday’s drawing to win the games 2nd-level prize of $100,000 for life.

The morning after the drawing, Doug stopped by a different place to check his ticket on the self-checker. Doug was so stunned, he asked an employee to verify it. He says he looked around the store and went “wooooo!”, which probably gave the store a hint that he won something.

Doug chose to take the lump sum of $2.2 million. He plans to invest the bulk of the money into retirement but “isn’t ruling out” a new car and a vacation.

He claimed his prize at the Iowa Lottery’s main office in Clive.

Millionaire For Life is a national lottery game so Doug was Iowa’s first big winner in the game. The top prize for the game is $1 million a year for life.

Prize levels in the game range from $8 to $7,500. Even winning the $8 would send me into millionaire mood.
