Chicago $1M Lotto Ticket Unclaimed in Ashburn

Somewhere in Chicago, a brand-new millionaire is walking around without a clue. A $1 million Lotto Million 1 ticket sold in the city’s Ashburn neighborhood has yet to be claimed, according to lottery officials. The six-number line that matched Thursday night’s drawing was bought at Lucky Mart on 87th Street and has not been presented to the Illinois Lottery for payment. Whoever holds it has one year from the date of the draw to come forward.
Where the ticket was bought
According to FOX 32 Chicago, the winning Lotto Million 1 ticket was purchased at Lucky Mart, 2900 W. 87th St., in Ashburn. Store owner Abed Ayesh told the Illinois Lottery he believes the golden slip may belong to “a regular Lotto player from our area,” a fair guess given the hundreds of customers the shop serves each day. Lucky Mart, which has been in business for more than four decades, will receive a $10,000 retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket, and Ayesh said part of that money will be donated to a local youth baseball league.
Winning numbers and the claim clock
The lucky line matched Lotto Million 1 numbers 5-8-13-44-48-50 in Thursday night’s drawing, according to the Illinois Lottery results page. The state posts official draw outcomes online and keeps an official record of winning tickets for verification, including this unclaimed $1 million prize that must be claimed within one year of the drawing date.
If you think you have the ticket
The Illinois Lottery advises anyone who thinks they are a winner to immediately write their name on the back of the ticket and store it in a safe place until they are ready to claim the prize. From there, winners are urged to contact the Lottery to start the claims process. Lotto prizes must be claimed within one year of the draw, and the Lottery’s site lists options to schedule in-person appointments or submit larger claims electronically.
By the numbers
Per FOX 32 Chicago, the Illinois Lottery said this is the fifth Lotto prize of $1 million or more awarded in Illinois so far this year. Players statewide have already claimed more than 2.1 million winning tickets in 2026, totaling nearly $27.8 million in payouts. If you even suspect you might be holding the winning slip, it may be time to dig through those jacket pockets and kitchen drawers and contact the Lottery right away.
