Whopping $40m jackpot up for grabs
Powerball has continued to climb in value, with $40 million now up for grabs after several weeks of nobody picking the right numbers.
So far this year, there have been six division one winning entries across Australia that have scored more than $226.6 million. Three of these division one winning entries were from New South Wales, and one each from Queensland, Victoria, and Western Australia.
It’s been quite some time since anyone won a $40 million Powerball jackpot, but it could change someone’s life this week
The last time a $40 million jackpot was won was way back in October 2020. This player was from Queensland
The winning woman, from the Brisbane suburb of Taringa, broke down in tears upon answering the phone and receiving confirmation she was now a multi-millionaire.
“My heart is about to beat through my chest,” she cried.
“You have no idea what this means to me.
“It’s a dream come true. I am feeling so breathless. I think I might faint or throw up.
“This is insane. You wouldn’t believe it, but this morning I woke up with a weird feeling that I was going to win Powerball.
“I made sure I kept my phone on charge and that I would be ready to answer your phone call.
“I can’t believe this is happening. My mind is all over the place. I can’t stop shaking.
“I feel so free. I am going to go and wake up my family. I can’t wait to tell them!”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her prize, the 2020 winner said it couldn’t have come at a better time.
“It’s been such a tough time. This is a huge relief,” she admitted.
“I am going to get a house and I want to share it with my family.
“I will also help some of my friends that have done so much for me.
“I am going to retire too and then I will spend my time travelling around Australia, instead of working.
“What can’t I do?”
