Suffolk man wins $100,000 Powerball prize

The winning numbers were 2, 7, 18, 29 and 38. The Powerball was 16.

According to the Lottery, the winner selected his own numbers using his children’s birthdays.

Virginia law allows Lottery winners to claim prizes anonymously. When a winner chooses that option, the Lottery does not publicly release the person’s identity.

Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, while the overall odds of winning any Powerball prize are 1 in 25, according to the Lottery.

Virginia Lottery profits support K-12 public education. Suffolk received more than $12.2 million in Lottery proceeds for public schools during the last fiscal year, according to the Lottery.

Statewide, the Lottery reported generating more than $901 million for K-12 education in fiscal 2025, representing about 10% of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
