Cecil County has a new millionaire

PERRYVILLE — Someone in Cecil County is a brand new millionaire thanks to his purchase of a Maryland Lottery Triple Red 777s scratch off ticket.

Maryland lottery rules allow a winner to remain anonymous, so lottery officials refer to the winner as “Mr. Money Bags.”

He was at the Royal Farms store at 1825 Perryville Road, waiting his turn in line at the lottery kiosk and witnessed the man ahead of him purchase several of the same $20 tickets, leaving only one still in the vending machine.

Taking the ticket home, it is his habit, he told officials in the Baltimore office, to scratch off all the numbers before revealing the prize. Having revealed three 7s, he then revealed his prize.

“Upon learning that he had won a $1 million prize, he was speechless. A friend of his who was there with him during his discovery picked him up and hugged in celebration. He also shared the great news with his wife and in-laws, who were all as equally as ecstatic,” a statement from Maryland Lottery reads.

The winner is an auto body mechanic who is planning a family vacation, investment and likely an early retirement.

The Royal Farms store received a $1,000 reward for selling the winning ticket.
