Fatehgarh Sahib farmer wins Rs 1 crore lottery – The Tribune

A marginal farmer from Sodian village, Balkar Singh, won the first prize of Rs 1 crore in the Sikkim State Lottery. He had purchased ticket for Rs 7 from Sirhind.
Singh said he purchased the ticket around 5 pm but forgot it at the lottery stall. Around 8 pm, he received a call from the lottery stall owner, Mukesh Kumar Bittu, informing him that he had won the first prize of Rs 1 crore and that ticket was at the stall.
The farmer termed the act a “unique example of honesty”. He said he planned to use the amount for farming and will donate a certain amount to help the underpriviliged .
