Upstate truck stop celebrates second lottery millionaire

ROEBUCK, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The South Carolina Education Lottery said a truck stop in the Upstate is celebrating its second big lottery win.
The Woodruff Truck Plaza, located off of I-26 on Walnut Grove Road in Roebuck, sold a lottery ticket worth $2.5 million this month, officials said. This comes after a player at the store won $2 million in August of 2025. Both wins were on scratch-offs.
“We are the luckiest place around,” said a proud owner Mike Patel.
According to the store owner, the lucky streak has been great for business. He says more customers are stopping in just to take a chance on a ticket.
The store’s recent $2.5 million winner, who does not wish to be identified, said she wasn’t feeling lucky when she picked out the $20 Magnificent Jumbo Bucks scratch-off.
“I never thought it would happen to me,” she told South Carolina Education Lottery officials. “It’s amazing.”
For selling the claimed tickets, the Woodruff Truck Plaza received commissions of $25,000 and $20,000.
