Hendersonville woman wins $1M from a scratch-off ticket bought on Chimney Rock Road

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A Hendersonville woman has won $1 million from the North Carolina Education Lottery. According to a release, Melissa Johnson was about to throw away her $10 scratch-off when she realized she was holding $1 million.
She purchased her LOTERIA MULTIPLIER winning ticket at Rock Convenience on Chimney Rock Road in Hendersonville.
“My heart was beating so fast,” Johnson said. “I started screaming.”
On Tuesday, she decided to accept the lump sum of $600,000. After taxes, she took home $432,063.
“I worked so hard in my life,” Johnson said. “I never thought this would happen.”
